Note For a demonstration of the following steps, click the Show Me button.
On the Sheet Setup dialog box, you can enter settings for your drawing sheet. One document can contain several drawing sheets and each drawing sheet can have different settings.
Sheet Size: Standard, A Wide (11 in x 8.5 in)
Drawing Scale: Scale (1:1)
Paper Units: Units - inches
Tip When you set the sheet size, click the Standard radio button. You can then select the A Wide setting in the list box next to the Standard radio button.
Caution On the Background tab, clear the Show Background check box to turn off the background sheet, if it is not already turned off.
On the Size and Scale tab, you can select a scale setting by clicking any item on the Select Scale dropdown list. The item you select causes the drawing sheet outline to increase or decrease in size. When the sheet scale changes, none of the elements or annotations are actually scaled; only the sheet size changes. This makes the document look like the information scaled.
The drawing sheet outline represents the printable area of the drawing. You can place elements outside of the drawing sheet, but the element will not print under normal circumstances. The drawing sheet outline represents the actual real-world area that can be used based on the selected scale.
The software uses both paper units and model units. Paper units are used to manage the printable size of dimensions and annotations. Model units are used to represent the graphics in their real world sizes. You can adjust model units and paper units with the commands on the Format menu.
