A Message from Mark: READ IT!!

Hey team – Welcome to XtremeNet, our new intranet site. Glad you finally decided to log on and try it. This is the next step in our company-wide commitment to giving Xtreme the winning edge through technology, so we can crush the competition!.

The word I’m getting from IS is that sales, production and warehouse people are climbing on board quickly, BUT THAT (some of) THE MANAGEMENT TEAM SEEMS SCARED $#!%*LESS. You know who you are.

Let me get this straight: you’re fearless pointing straight down a mountain, but are afraid of technology?! Get real! XtremeNet is the answer to all your informational needs.

Andrew Yaghobian in IS has done a great job of implementing XtremeNet so you don’t have to rely on him for up-to-date reports. Oddly enough, he’s still being overwhelmed by requests for reports from management. Give the guy a break – let him get home for dinner once in a while. PRINT YOUR OWN REPORTS!!

This stuff is easy, and XTREMELY useful. We chose Seagate Crystal Reports for XtremeNet because it’s best of breed – just like Xtreme. Seagate Crystal Reports sets the standard in web reporting: it’s easy to use – just point to the report you want and click. It’s Web friendly – their Smart Navigation technology minimizes the amount of data sent across the ‘net. And since Seagate Crystal Reports supports ActiveX, Java and HTML, you can use the browser you prefer.

Since you’re on XtremeNet already, why not try it out and see how easy it is to get the information you want, when you want it. Use the navigation bar at the top of the screen to choose the area you’re interested in, then point at one of the reports on the left side of the screen. Notice how great the reports look – we sure have come a long way since greenbar reports (some of you are too young to know what they are – be thankful!)

Finding the information you need within a report is easy too: the navigation tree on the left of the report summarizes the report groupings; just drill down to find the sub-group you’re interested in, then double-click to pull just those pages from our server down to your browser. You can even drill down on graphs, group totals and embedded hyperlinks for more detail.

Our veteran road warriors, also known as the sales force, say XtremeNet has revolutionized the way they do business. All the customer info they need for a sales call is at their fingertips, and it’s totally up-to-date – they just click on the refresh button to run the report against the most recent data. Sales are already up 10% this month, and the site’s only been live for 2 weeks.

Other great stuff on XtremeNet: our latest product catalog, current inventory levels, all the paperwork for shipping orders from our warehouse, financial reports to help management stay on top of company performance, and a complete employee listing with telephone extension, home phone number, a personal bio and picture – so you can get to know all the Xtreme team members!

See what this can do for your department, and our bottom line (don’t forget your stock options)! If you need help getting started, talk to Laurie Pereira in Finance, Vlad Chlumsky in the warehouse, Laura Callahan in Sales Admin. Or Andrew in IS. They’re all flying with XtremeNet.

Do it NOW!

Mark
