Log Directory

The directory where the scan logs are kept. This directory should be secure.

Dictionary File

A file containing the words used in trivial password guessing.

X Bitmap File

The bitmap used in the X Windows Check (Xsetroot on Vulnerable Workstation vulnerability).

Temp Directory

The directory where logs are stored during a scan. This directory should be secure.

Pwd Directory

The directory used to store any sensitive files (/etc/passwd, .pwl files) that Internet Scanner acquired during a scan. This directory should be secure.

Known Accounts

A .bin file containing the Windows NT accounts that SmartScan has cracked or will attempt to crack during a scan session. The default is knownaccounts.bin.

Important: ISS recommends placing Internet Scanner on an NTFS file system. During installation, Internet Scanner sets the appropriate directory permissions.
