Setting Values in the Scan with Database Scanner Dialog Box

Dialog Box Element

Description

DB Server Alias

The name used by the client/host for a remote database server.

DB Type

The server type of the selected database (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or Sybase Adaptive Server). This value cannot be modified, because Internet Scanner, not Database Scanner, discovered the database type.

DB Scanner Policy

The security policies (Maximum, Medium, or Minimum) that Database Scanner uses to scan the database server alias. This value can be modified for every database server that is being scanned. The default Database Scanner policy is Medium.

DB Account

The user account/login ID for the database server alias. This value can be modified for every database server that is being scanned.

For Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, the default user account/login ID is sa. For Oracle, the default user account/login ID is system.

DB Password

The password that belongs to the database account for the database server alias. This value can be modified for every database server that is being scanned.

For Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, the default password is blank. For Oracle, the default password is manager.

Trusted

(Microsoft SQL Server only) Specifies whether to use a trusted connection for the database server alias.

The default value is No. If you set the value to Yes, Database Scanner ignores the DB Account value and the DB Password value.

Host IP

The IP address for the remote machine running the database server.

Host Name

The name of the remote machine running the database server. This value cannot be modified.

Host account

(Applies to Database Scanner 3.0 for Oracle checks running Unix only and to the Unix account that is the owner of the Oracle installation.) The user account/login ID for the remote machine using the database server. This value can only be modified if you are running scans against Oracle servers.

The default user account/login ID is oracle.

Host Password

(Database Scanner 3.0 for Oracle checks running Unix only) Lists the password for the host account using the database server that is running on a remote machine. This value can only be modified if you are running scans against Oracle servers.

Status

The status information gathered during the course of a scan. Also reports whether the servers were able to initialize.

Scan Now

Starts Database Scanner’s scanning process.

Abort Scan

Terminates the Database Scanner scan if Database Scanner hangs or does not return the scan status information in the Status area.

Clear Status

Clears the scan status information from the Status area.

View Results

Displays Database Scanner’s Review Results window, which displays the security scan results and lets you generate, preview, or print reports on the scan results.

Help

Displays a help topic on how to use the Database Scanner integration feature.

Cancel

Exits the Scan with Database Scanner dialog box.
