Changing Risk Levels

To change the Risk level in Internet Scanner, change the values in one of the database tables and in a file that is stored in the Scanner6 directory. The database is in \Program Files\ISS\Scanner6\Db, in the Vulns table. The field to edit is Severity. Assign values of High = 3, Medium = 2, and Low = 1.

The file that you may also want to modify is vulns.dbi. This file is used to rebuild the vulns table when the Internet Scanner database is initialized from the Internet Scanner main window by selecting ToolsDatabase AdministrationMaintain.

To avoid having to redo changes to the Risk levels each time Internet Scanner is updated, you must manually merge old and new tables, and the custom Risk levels will have to be rekeyed.
