Description:

The Routing and Remote Access Server (RRAS) computer may stop responding to incoming calls when it is placed under heavy loads.

Remedy:

Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5 resolves this problem. Apply the latest Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack, or apply the Windows NT 4.0 post-SP4 disc-fix update.

To apply the latest Windows NT Service Pack, follow these steps:

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/support/ntserver/Content/ServicePacks and follow the directions to download the appropriate service pack for your computer.
  3. Find the installation program you downloaded to your computer.
  4. Double-click the program icon to start the installation.
  5. Follow the installation directions.

Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4) users, apply the disc-fix update:

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Go to ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/NT40/hotfixes-postSP4/Disc-fix/.
  3. View the readme.txt for versions and install instructions.
  4. Download the appropriate patch for your operating environment.
  5. Find the discfix patch file you downloaded to your computer.
  6. Double-click its icon to start the installation.
  7. Follow the installation directions.
