Check or Attack Name: statmon

The statmon service was detected as running. Statmon (or status monitor) uses statd and lockd to provide the crash and recovery functions for the locking services on NFS.

Disable the statmon service if it is not needed.

To disable the service, follow these steps:

1. Edit the /etc/inetd.conf (or equivalent) file.
2. Locate the line that controls the daemon.
3. Type a # at the beginning of the line to comment out the daemon.
4. Restart inetd.
