Check or Attack Name: etherstatd

The RPC etherstatd service has been detected as running. The etherstatd service puts a specified ethernet interface into promiscuous mode and provides traffic statistics to remote programs. This program registers itself with the RPC portmapper as program 100010.

This service should be disabled if you do not wish remote users to be able to view your network traffic statistics.
