Abstract

TimeSetter

Introduction

The TimeSetter comes from me, Paul Nevai, who is the author of the pedit family of text editors for the Palm.

Have you ever wished that you could set your Palm's clock to the exact second? Worry no more. TimeSetter does it for you and more...

Downloading TimeSetter

You can download the unregistered version of TimeSetter here. After registration, you will receive instructions how to download the registered version of TimeSetter.

Although this manual is included in the TimeSetterU.zip package, you can also access TimeSetter_man.html directly.

Installation

Install TimeSetter the usual way via a HotSync job.

If you have an unregistered version of TimeSetter on your Plam, then please delete it prior to installing the registered version.

If you are not sure how to install and/or delete Palm applications, please study the manual which came with your Palm.

Registering TimeSetter

The current version of TimeSetter can be registered for US$0.99 (ninety nine cents). Once you registered TimeSetter, all future versions will be available to you free of charge. For practical purposes, I reserve the right to change this policy.

PayPal is the easiest and fastest way to register TimeSetter.

A working alternative is to mail a check to Paul Nevai, 3346 Mansion Way, Columbus OH 43221-1573, USA. Please include your e-mail or your mailing address if you have no e-mail.

For credit card orders please use PaulComputing at PalmGear.

If you prefer registering via PalmGear by phone or fax, then please use 1-800-741-9070 [phone], 1-817-640-6558 [phone], or 1-817-640-6614 [fax], respectively.

TimeSetter's Manual

Tapping on any of the TimeSetter buttons 1 through 4, sets the time to the value indicated on the corresponding button label.

As you can expect it from me [cf. pedit], there is full keyboard support.

Entering the lower cased version of the first letter of a button activates it.

Entering a carriage return activates the default button which is drawn with a bold frame.

Disclaimer and Legal Statement

I guess, this is the right place to declare that you should install TimeSetter at your own risk since neither I nor paulComputing are responsible for any damage and/or loss of data caused by TimeSetter. Please keep in mind the three most important actions one may, could, can, should, and must do on at least a daily basis, are as follows: HotSync, HotSync, and HotSync.

FOR LEGAL REASONS, LET ME STATE IT VERY EXPLICITLY AND VERY CLEARLY THAT THE USE OF TIMESETTER CONSTITUTES A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE USER AND ME, AND THAT THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED AS IS, WITH NO WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND/OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR TASK. THE USER ASSUMES ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS USE.

Tidbits

I created TimeSetter with GoType!, PPK, OnBoardC and RsrcEdit, and with my beloved peditPro.

With the exception of this manual, all the work was performed onboard of my Palms. I started the coding on my Palm Vx. Then I bought a TRGPro with a 128Mb CompactFlash card, and I moved the project to it so that I would not have to risk loosing my regular data on my Palm Vx which is my everyday Palm. I used my Palm III with an 8Mb TRG board to test TimeSetter.

Version 1.00 was mostly written while travelling the land of the Kiwis and OZ in July and August of 2000.

All my Palms crashed dozens if not hundreds of times until I got it right [ouch].

Closure

Finally, please feel free to inform me of your wish list, suggestions, recommendations, [gentle] criticism, and so forth.

If you think that you must write a glowing review of TimeSetter, then please do it here.

Sincerely,
Paul Nevai
peditor-in-Chief

More from paulComputing

I am the author of my beloved pedit family of text editors [see README].

Although you may find pedit in various excellent Palm forums such as PalmGear, Handango, ZDNet [search for pedit], and EuroCool [search for pedit], they are all linked to the official pedit web page which always has the most recent versions of all pedits.

I also wrote dbCleanerUpper, EventAnalyzerHack [TBA], LapTopHack, and Sporty [TBA] which are available from PalmGear.
