JACK - It's just a clock... README FILE - JACK VERSION 1.2i 1. Requirements 2. Installing Jack 3. What are alarm 'Attempts'? 4. Gradual Alarm 5. Change History 1. Requirements ================================================= Jack runs on PalmOS 3.0 and higher. Jack has been tested on a Palm 3 running PalmOS 3.0 and a Palm V running PalmOS 3.1.1 2. Installing Jack ================================================= Unzip Jack using your favourite zip tool and install the .prc file onto your Palm Pilot. To do this use the Palm Install Tool - look in the Palm Desktop folder. Install the appropriate PRC file using your Palm Install Tool that you can find near your Palm Desktop. 3. What are alarm 'Attempts'? ================================================= On the second page of the alarm setting wizard (the 'Setting the Alarm #2' page) you'll see an option marked 'How Many Attempts?'. Unlike DateBook, Jack will try several times to alert you when its alarm goes off. Jack will ring the alarm twenty times. If it hasn't been ackowledged by the end then it books another attempt in five minutes' time. After trying a certain number of these attempts Jack will give up. You can specify the number of attempts Jack should make before giving up. 4. Gradual Alarm ================================================= There is a new option as of 1.2f, a Gradual Alarm. This starts a bit more quietly than the regular alarm, ringing less often and beeping less often on each ring. If you don't switch it off then on the next attempt the alarm is a bit more intrusive, and after that it goes back to normal. 5. Change History ================================================== 1.2i Feature:When setting the alarm time, you can now use the up and down keys as well as dragging the alarm bell. 1.2h Feature:Alarms can now be configured to only repeat on weekdays. Feature:The alarm can now be snoozed/cancelled with the hard down/up keys respectively. BugFix: When pilot is reset, alarms are lost. This version now resets the alarm to the right time. BugFix: If the user changed the alarm, but _didn't_ click 'done', the new settings were lost. This isn't the way Palm apps normally work. Now the settings are applied as soon as the user changes them. 1.2g BugFix: When the alarm was in non-repeating mode. After the alarm had fired and been acknowledged, the alarm icon on the Jack screen didn't change to show the alarm was no longer set.
