4T NOX is a full-featured password/account management application. You can store information pertaining to bank accounts, credit cards, email, phone cards and much more. Pull-down menus are utilized throughout to make data entry simple. Other features include user-customizable categories, a customizable password generator, a quick lock icon, and login screen password protection. Installing 4T NOX

New Installation.
 Install the included Fnox.prc file by using the install application that is included with your Palm OS Desktop software.

Upgrading

Due to the re-design of the database (to accommodate BLOWFISH), you MUST DELETE ANY COPY OF 4T NOX VERSIONS 1.8 AND LOWER, AND EITHER EXPORT THEN IMPORT (USING THE VERSION 1.8, FNOX18.PRC,  THAT IS INCLUDED WITH THIS PACKAGE) OR RE-ENTER YOUR DATA MANUALLY. I apologize for any inconvenience that this causes, but I feel that the added security was justification for the change. I hope you will fill the same. I promise to the best of my ability that I will not change the data structure in future releases.

Upgrading: 1.) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A KNOW GOOD BACKUP of the fnox.pdb file (data file) and make a copy of it. 

If you are using 4T NOX version 1.7 or earlier, you can upgrade one of two ways.

1.) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A KNOW GOOD BACKUP of the fnox.pdb file (data file) and make a copy of it.
    How do I know if I have a good copy, Open the fnox.pdb file with a Word Processor and you should be able to 
    read some of the data that you have input into 4T NOX (not all of it, some will be random characters).

    Please note: The 'drop down' list choices are not exported/imported. The list data 'fields' are.

1. Load the included version 1.8 over the top of your current version 1.X 
2. Log into version 1.8
3. Export your data to the MemoPad (export instructions included below) 
4. Rename the '4TNox Export' memo to '4TNox Import'
5. Delete 4T NOX  version 1.8
6. Load the new version of 4T NOX
7. Start 4T NOX 
8. Log into 4T NOX assigning it a password 
9. Import the data into the new version. (import instructions included below).
10. Set the 'Display Option' to your preference

2.) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A KNOW GOOD BACKUP of the fnox.pdb file (data file) and make a copy of it. 

1. Delete your current version 1.X 
2. Install the new version 
3. Log into 4T NOX assigning it a password 
4. Re-enter your data manually

If you are using version 2.X or higher, just install the new version over the top of your current version.

Palm OS 2.0 Notes.

Please note that when running 4T NOX (or any other program as far as that goes) under Palm OS 2.0, when you tap on the "Applications" screen button, 4T NOX is actually still running in the background.  So if you tap on the 4T NOX icon to start the program (even if you have turned your Palm off and back on) you will start right where you left off without asking for a password.

Backup and Restore

Currently 4T NOX puts a backup copy of its database into your default palm backup directory.  The file will be named fnox.pdb.  Always make a copy of your backup file and keep in in a safe place.  Another very good way is the NEW Export/Import to/from Memopad.  I am in the process of creating a PC Desktop companion for 4T NOX.

If you do encounter a crash/re-set while using 4T NOX please do the following:

1. Delete 4T NOX from your Palm PDA
2. Re-install 4T NOX
3. Log into 4T NOX with YOUR CURRENT PASSWORD
4. Exit 4T NOX
5. THEN, install the fnox.pdb data file

When you purchase has been approved, you will receive a license number via e-mail from the author within 24 hours.

Usage

Account Records

The Main Form View is the 'home base' view of 4T NOX.  The look and feel is very similar to the address list view of the Address application on the Palm Pilot.  The accounts are listed in alphabetical order by the description field of the account.

Creating an account

To create new accounts press the 'New' button from the Main Form View.  The Record Details View screen will appear where you can start inputting your information, you can change the label names by tapping on the drop down list of each label and selecting a new label.  Enter the information in each field by tapping on the field to place the cursor and use the Graffiti input or Palm Pilot soft keyboard input to enter the account information. Use the drop down list box in the top right corner of the form to select a category for the record that you are currently editing.  Edit the list of categories by selecting 'Edit Categories...' from the category drop down list. Tap on the 'Private' check box to identify the account as private.  This will allow you to utilize the built-in Palm Pilot security feature and hide the record until the Palm Pilot security password has been entered. Once finished, tap the 'Done' button and the Main Form View will appear.

Viewing/Editing an account

To view/edit an account, select the account from the Main Form View by tapping on the name of the account.  The Record Details View screen will appear with the account information.  View or edit the information as needed and then tap the 'Done' button when finished viewing the account and the Main Form View will reappear.

Deleting an account

To delete the account record, tap on the record, from the Main Form View, to bring up the Record Details View, then tap the delete "Trash Can" icon.  A dialog box will prompt you to ensure that you don't accidentally delete the wrong account.

Export to Memopad

Exports data, in current category, to the memopad creating a new memo named "4TNox Export".  

The structure for this exported memo is:
NOTE: The Date: field is not used, but may show up in the export.
NOTE: You can use one field or all fields.  Only input the field and data that you need.  Fields and lists
without data will be ignored.

Import from Memopad

Importing from the memopad is exactly the same as the export except for one thing, change the word Export to Import.  The fields and the structure is exactly the same. As a matter of fact, the BEST way to insure no type-o's is to first export to memopad, then edit the data and import back into 4T Nox.

The  minimum requirements are; 1.) new memo named "4TNox Import" 2.) First line of memo named "4TNox" 3.) ANY one of the fields below.
