Introduction

BDicty is a generic dictionary program for PalmPilot^« and the compatible devices. A dictionary has two components: the BDicty program itself and a database with  [language] information, called lexicon. BDicty allows unlimited number of lexicons to be installed at the same time.

The program is fairly simple and intuitive to use. You do not need any special training (yes, you can stop reading now) or computer knowledge to handle. Yet, it is useful to know a bit more about it to avoid further confusion.

BDicty comes with two versions: Public and Commercial.
The Public version is free and available for download form our website. It has the most basic functionality a dictionary needs - the ability to lookup words. In its "About" menu it shows you it is a Public (or Demo), even if you have the full version of a lexicon.
The Commercial (full) version of BDicty gives you several advantages over the Public one, among which ability to add your own words, different screen views/modes, support for phrasebooks and many more. For the full list and the latest version (the updates are free!) please check on our website.

The registration fee is $10.

One more thing to mention about BDicty is that it can run demo and licensed (full) lexicons. The Demo lexicons can be used by anyone while the licensed are encrypted and licensed only to a specific user (by his/her HotsyncID).
There are some free lexicons and can be downloaded and used from various places, including our websute.. 

Installation
BDicty Dictionary has 2 components:

• BDicty - a shell dictionary program
• Language (or other) databases - lexicons for BDicty

To install a dictionary into your Palm you will need to HotSync at least 2 files: BDicty.prc & Any_Lexicon.pdb (e.g. En2Fre.pdb)

If you have downloaded BDicty.zip (or lexicon.zip) file you have to:
1. Extract it and find the files BDicty.prc and Any_Language.pdb (e.g. En2Fre.pdb)
2. Hotsync the two files

If you have downloaded an EXE file (e.g. BDicty.exe), just start it and follow the instructions.

Installing upgrades:
Install the new BDicty version into your PalmPilot^«.
Note: There is no need to delete the previous version, it will be automatically replaced. 

Purchasing

You can purchase BDicty online a credit card or over the phone from some of our distributors.
An Internet order can be made on our site www.beiks.com (instant download) or from www.pilotgear.com , www.handango.com and others.

Registered users get further program updates free.

You will have to provide your UserName (HotsyncID).

Note: The dictionary lexicons are separate products and are distributed separately! They can have different prices or even be free.
