Installation ------------ There are 2 files that must be installed on your Palm Pilot in order to use PocketSat: PocketSat_trial.prc (or PocketSat_reg.prc) - the PocketSat application. Mathlib.prc - Rich Heubner's invaluable double precision math library. A third file, sampsats.pdb, is a PocketSat input database containing some (almost certainly out-of-date) sample satellite orbit data. You can either install this database to play with, or ignore it and go to the PocketSat web site ( http://www.emmgraphics.com/pilot ) to get current data. Full documentation is available in the docs directory and at the PocketSat web site. Release Notes ------------- V2.2 - 29 November, 2000 - Fixed a bug when calulating passes for periods less than 3 hours long overlapping either sunrise or sunset. - Fixed the very infrequent but fatal "Bad Category" error. V2.1 - 11 November, 2000 - Added GMT+13 timezone for New Zealand during Daylight Savings Time - Fixed the "between 0 and -1 degrees Lat or Lon" bug (again.) - Selected pass is now maintained even if it scrolls off the screen - Fixed inverted bitmaps - Fixed a bug that could hang "visual pass" searches at very high (or low) latitudes - Added section to docs to describe "twilight" preference V2.0 - 14 June, 2000 - Added user-customizable color support including night-vision preserving "red mode." The same version works with both color and B&W devices. - Merged PocketSat.prc and SGPLib.prc into a single file. - Now allows multiple selectable observer locations. - Changed Latitude and Longitude entry (now takes N/S and E/W instead of +/-) - Added new optimizations. - Removed "visibility optimizations" as a preferences choice. V1.5 - 10 August, 1999 - Added the ability to set alarms that go off at or near the beginning of a pass. - Added tests to make sure there is enough memory before performing operations that need it. - Progress bar now shows completed fraction of entire calculation instead of just one satellite. - If "All Passes" is selected in Preferences, pass "goodness" in main list just reflects maximum altitude, not visibility. This is for radio people. - Added 24:00 to time choices dialog. V1.4 - 15 June, 1999 - Satellites are organized into PalmOs categories. - You can now add to a pass list, without clearing the results of previous calculations. - Added half-hour timezones. - The Pass Details form can now be copied to the clipboard. - Added a visibility optimization to test for times when the Sun is "too low." - The Pass Details form now shows 9 points, rather than 5. - If no satellites are selected, the program will tell you so if you try to perform a calculation. - The Satellites database is no longer backed up during a HotSync. This saves a lot of time. - Fixed a bug that prevented you from entering a longitude or latitude between 0 and -1 degree (kind of a bear for people in London.) V1.3 - 23 April, 1999 - Fixed DB import bug which could cause a crash if extra data was at the end of an import database - Added GMT+9.5 timezone for South Australia V1.1 - 30 March, 1999 - Added live elevation/azimuth display to plot. - Import process now rejects high-orbit satellites. - Added 'invert plot' option to prefs. - Added a "No satellites in list, use import feature..." message to satellites form. - Changed time zones from '-2' to 'GMT-2' for clarity. - Revamped memo import. - Added potentially useful error messages to both import methods. - Both import methods now verify data checksums. - 'Thru' time now gets immediately set to requested end time rather than waiting for calculation to complete. V1.0 - 11 March, 1999 - Initial release
