Directions for installing and using the MPG Windows Conduit 1. Installing Conduit a. Copy "MPGCOND.DLL" to the same directory that the HotSync application is in. (It is probably C:\Palm\ or C:\pilot\). b. Double Click on the MPGCOND.REG file. This will add some necessary data to to the Windows Registry for the MPG Conduit. c. Hotsync. 2. MPG Conduit Options: a. You can choose to upload from MPG to the Palm or download from the desktop to MPG. b. Check All Transactions if you want MPG to upload all records everytime. Otherwise the conduit will only upload the records that have been changed since the last upload. * If you have All Transactions checked the the MPG.tdf file is deleted before uploading the full set of transactions again. If you do not have it checked then the conduit appends the new records to the end of the file. c. Date Format - pick the date format that you want the conduit to use. 3. Download data from desktop to Palm - TDF File Format a. Create a TDF file for the MPG conduit to download. The column format is: Date(Type)VehicleFolderPaymentLocationOdometerCostDescription.. Fuel GallonsFullTankOctane Trip Trip PointPurpose Repair/Service Category *The best idea is to upload some transactions from MPG to see the format it is looking for. b. Save the export file in the "ToPalm" folder located in the user hotsync directory in the MPG directory. "C:\Palm\SmithJ\MPG\ToPalm". (SmithJ will be your personal hotsync directory and most likely be your last name and your first initial of your first name.) You must end the file name with the .TDF extension or MPG won't download it. 4. Upload data from Palm - TDF File Format a. A file called MPG.tdf will be created in your user directory: "C:\Palm\SmithJ\MPG\FromPalm" directory. c. Import the .tdf file into a spreadsheet or database. d. After you import the .tdf file you should delete the MPG.tdf file from the FromPalm directory.
