Installing Astro Info
"Astro Info" is installed the same way as any other Palm application. Use your Palm Desktop software (or pilot-link if you use Linux) to install the following files on your Palm, Visor or TRGPro:
- Astro.prc
The main program
- MathLib.prc
You may not need to install this. Many Palm scientific and mathematical applications use it, so you may already have a copy. In addition, Visors already have MathLib in ROM.
Warning! MathLib is essential for the proper operation of Astro Info and of many other mathematical applications for your Palm. If you try to run "Astro Info" without having a copy of MathLib installed, your Palm will crash. If you are unsure if you have a copy of MathLib, start your Palm and select "Delete" from the main menu. If "MathLib" appears in the list of applications you do not need to install it a second time.
In addition to the basic program, there are a number of optional files you can install if you choose:
- Messier.pdb
The Messier catalog - The classic list of famous stellar objects.
- Caldwell.pdb
The Caldwell catalog - A modern counterpart to the Messier catalog, the Caldwell catalog is a list of some of the most interesting objects in our skies.
- Northernstars.pdb
A catalog of bright stars visible in the northern hemisphere. Stars are identified by their constellation, Beyer letter, and SAO number.
- Southernstars.pdb
A catalog of bright stars visible in the southern hemisphere. Stars are identified by their constellation, Beyer letter, and SAO number.
- Astro.pdb
Some documentation on Astro Info, in DOC format.
- Location.pdb
A list of cities and their latitude and longitude, in DOC format.
- License.pdb
The Gnu Public License, in DOC format. This license governs the copying and distribution of Astro Info.
And that's it. Once you've copied the files to your Palm, you're ready to go!
