Date2000 and Test2000 Date Correction Utilities Release Notes ============================================================= Copyright (C) 1996,97 SchoolHouse Computers Limited Test2000 -------- Test2000 is a short test that will check the integrety of a PC's internal date system. Test2000 works by running from a bootable floppy disk. To create a bootable floppy diskette that can be used to test any PC's internal date for the year 2000 problem: * Place a write ENABLED floppy diskette in drive A: * Log to the directory on your hard drive where T2000FP.EXE and CRBOOT.BAT exist and type 'CRBOOT A:', like so: C:\> cd\xxxxx C:\xxxx> CRBOOT A: * Wait while the Test2000 diskette is created. BE WARNED: This will overwrite any data that is on the floppy diskette. Once the diskette is created, turn the PC off, place the Test2000 disk in drive A, and turn on the PC. this will start the Test2000 software. Test2000 will then run a series of tests on the PC's date system - just follow the intructions on the screen. After the tests have completed, Test2000 will suggest a course of action to fix any problems it found. You are free to copy and use Test2000 in any way you see fit. Date2000 -------- A simple Setup program is supplied to install Date2000, but essentially, all it does is to copy the Date2000 programs onto the hard drive and place two lines at the top of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Whenever the PC boots, two messages are displayed to confirm that the Date2000 software is running; first DATE2000.EXE introduces itself and shows the status of the internal date, and then TSR2000.COM announces that it has been installed. To install Date2000, log to the directory where DATE2000.EXE exists and type 'SETUP'. Follow the intructions on the screen, noting that you have the option of installing the boot or the real-time software. These are Date2000.EXE and TSR2000.ESE respectively. Test2000 will tell you which needs to be installed on your PC. DATE2000.EXE is a non-memory resident program that checks and, if necessary, corrects that internal date at boot time. TSR2000.COM is a memory resident program that takes just over 330 bytes in RAM, and adds very little overhead to the PC. It corrects the date in the case when the PC is running at the time of the flip to the year 2000. The Date2000 software (DATE2000.EXE and TSR2000.COM) is FREE FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY.
