Viewing Messages with Event Viewer

Check Event Viewer regularly for messages that might indicate developing problems. Microsoft NNTP Service writes a message to the System log in Event Viewer each time the service starts and stops, an operator command is processed, or an error is detected.

To view messages with Event Viewer:
  1. From the Start menu, choose Programs, and then Administrative Tools (Common), and Event Viewer.
  2. From the Log menu, choose System. The messages written by Microsoft NNTP Service display NNTPSVC in the Source column.

You can make it easier to find Microsoft NNTP Service messages by filtering the messages in Event Viewer.

To view only Microsoft NNTP Service messages:
  1. From the View menu in Event Viewer, choose Filter Events.
  2. In the Source box, select NNTPSVC.

For a complete list of all messages that can be written by Microsoft NNTP Service, see Windows NT Events for Microsoft NNTP Service.
