The NNTP Settings property sheet contains the following options:
Option | Description |
Allow client posting | Allows clients to post articles to newsgroups on this news site. |
Limit post size | Specifies the largest single article that a user can post. |
Limit connection size | Specifies the maximum amount of data that a user can post during a connection. |
Allow servers to pull news articles from this server | Allows other NNTP servers to use pull feeds to get more than one article at a time from this server. |
Allow control messages | Allows clients and servers to send control messages that create and remove newsgroups and delete individual articles. (For more information, see Processing Control Messages.) |
SMTP server for moderated groups | The DNS name of the SMTP mail server that sends articles to the moderators of newsgroups or specifies the directory path where these articles are placed. The directory must be a local directory. |

Articles posted to moderated newsgroups that have no specified moderator are sent to: news_group_name@default_moderator_domain where news_group_name is the name of the newsgroup to which the article is sent and default_moderator_domain is the value you specify for this option. |
Administrator Email account |
An e-mail address for receiving the non-delivery reports (NDRs) of moderated newsgroup articles that cannot be delivered to the specified moderator. To enable sending NDRs, create a new DWORD value named MailFromHeader with a value of 1 in the following registry key:
