Internet Service Manager - Basic Authentication Warning
When your Web server authenticates a user with the Basic authentication method, the userÆs Web browser transmits Windows NT account user names and passwords across the network in an unencrypted form.
For installations of Windows NT Server, you can enable your Web serverÆs Secure SocketÆs Layer (SSL) encryption features to protect account information submitted through Basic authentication. To enable SSL, however, you must first install a server certificate. For more information, consult your Web serverÆs security documentation.
