Processor PC Solution:
The OPTi Discovery chipset provides a highly integrated solution for a
fully compatible, high performance PC/AT platform based on the Intel®
Pentium Pro processor. The features of the chipset can be scaled to
address entry level PCs or high-end desktop or workstation systems. The
deep buffers and several levels of pipelining minimize system level latencies
and maximize/sustain throughputs for all the major subsystems. Support for
parity/ECC protection provides enhanced levels of fault tolerance to greatly
improve the reliability of the system. The Discovery Chipset is comprised of two chips, the 82C650 (North Bridge) and the 82C651 (South Bridge), and an optional third chip, the 82C652 which provides an auxiliary PCI bus that can be used as the AGP port. It provides 64-bit core logic, integrated PCI (2.1 specification compliant) support, support for a second Host-to-PCI device (82C652), support for all popular memory technologies, sophisticated power management features, and optional support for Unified Memory Architecture (UMA) and Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP). This highly integrated approach supplies the foundation for a cost-effective platform, without compromising performance. Its feature set furnishes an array of control and status monitoring options that are accessed through a simple and straightforward interface. All major BIOS vendors provide extensive software hooks that allow system designers to integrate their own special features with minimal effort.

The OPTi Vendetta (82C750) single-chip BGA provides a
highly integrated solution for fully compatible, high performance
PC/AT platforms. It supports the Intel 3.3V Pentium Processor,
Cyrix 6x86 Processor, and AMD 5K86 Processor.
