To	Do this
Play a paused or stopped file	Click the Play button . -or- On the Play menu, click Play/Pause.
Play a streaming media file on a Web page	Click the link on the Web page.
Play a file on your computer or network	On the File menu, click Open, navigate to the appropriate location, click the file, and then click Open.
Play a file on the Web by entering the URL to the file	On the File menu, click Open URL, type the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the file, and then click OK. The following list provides examples of the kinds of locations you can specify: mms://server/filename (for example, a file with a .wma, .wmv, .asf, or .mp3 extension) http://server/filename \\server\content\filename file://\\server\content\filename mms://server/sami.asf?SAMI=http://server/sami/sami_demo.smi (Synchronized Accessible Media Interchange (SAMI) file)

If the items do not play in the order you expect, the shuffle feature may be turned on. To turn off the shuffle feature, on the Play menu, click Shuffle (the check mark next to the command is removed).
If you find that files play back too quickly in the Player, try installing new drivers for your sound card. For more information, see your computer manufacturer's Web site.
If you have difficulty playing streaming media files on Web pages when using a Netscape browser, you may need to reinstall the Windows Media Player Plug-In for Netscape. To install the plug-in, see the Windows Media Technologies Download Center at the Microsoft Web site.
