To change the quality level (compression rate) of files copied to portable devices
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Devices tab.
Click the portable device that you want to change the copy quality level for, and then click Properties.
–or–
Click Copy to CD or Device, click the portable device in the Items to Copy pane, and then click the Portable device properties button .
On the Portable Device tab, do one of the following:
To have Windows Media Player select the copy quality level, click Select quality level automatically (recommended).
To specify the copy quality level, click Select quality level, and then move the slider to the appropriate quality level.
Note
The Items on Device pane typically refreshes automatically when you connect a device to your computer, when you disconnect a device from your computer, or when you insert or remove storage media from a connected device. If the display does not refresh automatically, you can press F5 to refresh the display manually.
