Video Acceleration Settings dialog box

Use the Video Acceleration Settings dialog box to customize video acceleration options. The default options are appropriate for most users.

Users of laptop computers may want to consider changing the following DVD Video options to improve DVD playback performance:

Battery optimized performance

Specifies whether the Player should conserve battery power on laptop computers. The Player conserves battery power by turning off certain features, such as the video-mixing renderer. If you want all DVD features available when using the battery on your laptop computer, clear this check box.

Hardware

Specifies that a hardware DVD decoder is used. On some computers, particularly laptop computers, hardware decoders provide better DVD playback performance (for example, smoother playback), but fewer features (for example, no full-screen playback controls).

Software

Specifies that a software DVD decoder is used. On some computers, particularly laptop computers, software decoders may provide more features (for example, full-screen playback controls), but inferior DVD playback performance (for example, choppy playback).
