Keyboard access
All features and buttons in Windows Media Player are accessible to you by using the keyboard only.
- Press ALT to make the underlined letter for each command and button visible. The File menu is highlighted. Then press the key for the underlined letter of the menu or command that you want to use. You can use the arrow keys or the underlined letter to select a different menu or an item on the menu.
- You can use the arrow keys to move left and right or up and down menus or lists. Press ENTER or the spacebar to play the item or select a button. You can also use the arrow keys to adjust the volume and position the Seek slider.
- Use the TAB key to select individual items in an area and to move the pointer to a different area. Pressing SHIFT+TAB moves the pointer in the opposite direction. Press CTRL+TAB to move the focus between the inner and outer areas of the Player. You can also access the taskbar with the Now Playing, Media Guide, Copy from CD, Media Library, Radio Tuner, Copy to CD or Device, Services, and Skin Chooser features by clicking pointing to Go To, and then clicking the feature on the View menu.
- When an item is selected, press SHIFT+F10 to display a shortcut menu. You can use the arrows keys to move up or down the menu, and then press ENTER to select an item.
- Press ENTER to select any command or button.
- Press the spacebar to select or clear the check box next to an item. To select or clear contiguous check boxes, press and hold SHIFT while using the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate check boxes, and then press the spacebar. To select or clear check boxes for items that are not contiguous, press and hold CTRL while using the arrow keys to highlight the check boxes, and then press the spacebar.
- Press ESC or ALT to close any menu.
