Creating a Rolling Clip That Freezes
One common use for freeze frames is to create a segment that plays normally and then freezes, either to superimpose text information or to add emphasis to the end of a sequence before fading.

To create a rolling clip that freezes:
1.  Edit the clip into the sequence.
2.  Mark an IN point in the sequence at the frame where you want the freeze frame to occur.
3.  Create the Freeze Frame effect from the source footage as described in Creating a Freeze Frame.
4.  In the Tool palette, click either the Splice-in button or the Overwrite button to edit the freeze frame into the sequence at the previously marked IN point.
For information on opening the Tool palette, see Using the Tool Palette.
