Overlay Terrains
Overlays an image onto the landscape surface. Previous versions of GenesisII
used a seperate renderer for overlays.
Overlays can be applied to particular polygon shapes (polygon overlay mode)
or stretched across the full landscape. Polygon overlay mode is usually used
to apply particular textures to limited areas - for example a ploughed field
texture might be applied. An all terrain overlay is more commonly used with
a topographic or satellite image.

Overlay
- Draw overlay for this terrain: Check box to switch overlay rendering
on/off.
- Draw overlay over all terrain: Check box to switch between a full
terrain overlay or overlaying inside polygons.
- Source File: A bmp file containing the overlay image.
- Set Overlay Directory: Sets directory path for overlay bitmaps.
- Use Mask transparency: GenesisII can draw an overlay image with transparency
applied to the whole overlay, or use mask transparency where it is applied
to only one particular. Mask transparency is useful when you only want to
overlay part of an image (for example limited sections of a map).
- Mask Transparency color: When mask transparency is applied this is
the color which will be drawn using transparency.
- Transparency: Degree of transparency of the image layer. Ranges from
100% for total transparency to 0% for total opacity.
- Scaling: Used to scale overlay images in polygon overlay mode. For
example if using a ploughed field texture this would control the number of
ridges drawn across a polygon area.
