Project Title: Enviroboxes-6th grade Science

Project Begin & End Dates: 1/01/01 to 6/01/01

Project Summary:
Students would exchange "enviroboxes" with other classrooms in different regions. Enviorboxes are any kind of box and whatever you put inside represents your ecosystem. If we have 10 schools participating, then each school would make 10 boxes and mail them out. Inside would be artifacts representing your ecosystem. For example, you might have samples of trees, pictures or animals, daily weather for a week, etc.

Project Details
-------------------
Project Level: Basic

Curriculum Area: Community Interest, Language, Mathematics, Science

Technologies Used: Email

Full Project Description:
I found this activity in a science journal. Part of my sixth grade curriculum is ecosystems and biodiversity. It is agreat way to exchange information with classes who live in different ecosystems such near the ocean, in or near a rainforest, and in or near a desert. We live in the midwest, Wisconsin. Go Packers :)and can provide photos and descriptions of the plants and animals in our area. Enviroboxes, for example, could be a shoebox. Inside could be pinecones, pictures of a recent snowfall, photos of birds, deer, other species...special features to our area. In addition, we could add daily temperatures, precipitation, etc. We could discuss all the details later. For example, if we have 10 schools in different areas participatin, we would make 10 enviroboxes and mail them. Each school would receive 10 different enviroboxes. It would be a great way to exchange information about ecosystems and diversity. If anyone is interested, please contact me.
