Project Title: So Many Ants

Project Summary:
To develop telecommunication skills utilizing the Interne and e-mail to
exchange data and learning activities. The research activities will be
based upon the ubiquitous ant.  We are interested in sharing information ab=
out ants:
observing, classifying, collecting data, graphing results.

Full Project Description:
Ants are here, ants are there, ants are virtually everywhere
Innerspace, cyberspace good gosh they are on my face!
Find a niche, dig a ditch, turn a rock, look on your block.
Classify, pacify, don't let one little ant go bye
Complete your data sheet then give your ants a little treat.
Go online, be on time, send your findings off to mine
In return, as we learn, all the data you will earn!

We are interested in sharing information about ants that are found all over=
 the world:
observing, classifying, collecting data, graphing and charting the results =
which are then e-mailed to us.
We will provide you with many resouces and follow-up activities

PARTICIPATION INCENTIVES:
=B7 Teachers will be given lesson plans to be used with the collated data w=
hich can be adapted to their curriculum needs.
=B7 Certificates will be awarded to the all classes that submit data to hel=
p achieve our project goals.


Objectives:
PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

=B7 Students will observe and identify ants in their local environment.
=B7 Students will record their observations about the niche where the ant w=
as found, by drawing a picture of the ant and writing a description of the =
ant and the habitat.
=B7 Students will complete a data sheet of their findings.
=B7 Students will communicate their findings with other students using e-ma=
il and the Internet.
=B7 Students will learn about ants in other parts of the United States/Worl=
d.
=B7 Students will summarize the results of their worldwide survey.
