Project Title: Lunar Lights
Project Begin & End Dates: 9/20/00 to 5/30/00
Project Summary:
Interested in learning more about the moon? This project will hopefully gather together groups from around the country, possibly the world, and to compare views of the moon. We will also be trying to identify lunar craters and areas where scientists believe lunar ice can be found, along with tracking the lunar phases. Observations will be made on a regular basis and then groups can compare their views and discoveries.

Project Level: Basic
Curriculum Area: Science
Technologies Used: Email
Full Project Description:
This project is being designed and run by a group of four high school students and so any ideas or suggestions from participating groups are appreciated. We have not begun observations of the moon, yet, but they will probably be a couple times a week. We will be getting a map of the moon in order to help us identify craters and different areas of the moon that we will be observing. This project is designed mostly to inform us more about the moon and give us the chance to do more in astronomy. We want to compare the different views of the moon that people have in different parts of the country (or world) at the same time. There won't be any involved mathematical calculations, but mostly simple observation and identifying. Groups will compare observations made regarding the craters and lunar ice and collaboratively help each other learn more about the moon. This will prove to be an interesting and educating experience for all.
