What is the "Lite Edition"?
Ariad Software's HTML Controls, Lite Edition, is a limited
subset of Ariad's HTML Controls product. The Lite Edition is completely
separate from the complete edition and is not dependant on it. It's main
differences in comparison to the complete edition are as follows:
- Limited HTML subset
The controls support only a small number if HTML tags, with no provision for
adding your own. Supported tags may also not support the full range of
available parameters.
- No Image Support
Only a background tile specified using the Picture property is
supported - any HTML tags, for example IMG, which would insert an image
are ignored. Plus the complete edition has full support for many image
formats, including PNG.
Note: If you purchase a license for this product then the img tag will
be unlocked for your use.
- No Browse Features
The Lite Edition does not feature built in scrolling and keyboard access, such
as using navigation keys to scroll a document, or using the Tab key to cycle
between anchors. Mouse wheel support is also not included. No automatic
processing of hyperlinks is provided, you must use the assorted Anchor
events and provide your own support.
- No Download Features
You cannot use the http:// protocol to have HTML files and images
automatically downloaded into your internet cache and used by the controls
- No Object Model
No object model is provided for accessing anchor and tag properties or
inserting your own on the fly
- No Printing
The Lite Edition does not support printing or output to any other device
context
- No Implements Interface or Render Object
The complete edition features several interfaces and objects which allow you
to output HTML to your own clients, not just the HTML Controls provided by
Ariad Software. Using the class object, you can output HTML into a memory DC
which you can then print for reporting etc.
- Freeware
Unlike the complete edition which is a commercial product, the Lite Edition is freeware for non-commercial
use. Users who wish to use this product in a commercial application must be
pay a one-off license fee, this will also unlock the img tag for use.
