WRITING CONTEST
800 million people today are plagued by hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. The citizens of the world can change these facts if they want to. The International Food Policy Research Institute, a nonprofit organization based in Washington DC, invites students 15 to 18 years old to present their views on how things can be changed for the better.
First Prize: US$500, plus a trip to Bonn, Germany, in September 2001 to attend a major international conference on ending hunger. The President of Germany, among others, will open the conference.
Runner-up prizes: US$250.
Deadline: Submissions (essays, poems, short stories, etc.) of not more than 2,500 words must reach the address below by June 1, 2001
