Macros

Macros

Macros are recorded keyboard commands, which can be played back at a later time. They can be used to automate often editing tasks.

To record a macro, select "Macros -> Record" from 40tude HTML's main menu. The text in the blue caption of the main form will change to communicate that a macro is being recorded.

Do the keyboard operations that you want to be recorded and press the "Pause" key or select "Macros -> Stop" from the main menu to stop the recording.

A recorded macro can be played in three different ways, either just once, a specified number of times or until the caret reaches the end of a document.

To playback a macro just once, select "Macros -> Playback" from the main menu.

To playback a macro a specified number of times, select "Macros -> Multiplay" from the main menu, check the "Specified numbers of times" box and enter the number in the box right of it.

To playback a macro to the end of a file, select "Macros -> Multiplay" from the main menu and check the "Repeat to end of file" box. When playing a macro to the end of a file the position of the caret should actually advance to the end of the file in your macros. This is checked each time the macro is executed. If the caret does not get closer to the end of file, the macro playback will be stopped.

You can save and reload macros from and to disk by selecting "Macros -> Load/Save" from the main menu.
