WinProxy is 32bit application designed to work as a Proxy server/ Firewall. It works on computers running Windows 95/98 or Windows NT. Configurationis easy and can be maintained remotely through WWW. WinProxy support mostof the popular Internet protocols.

There are three main reasons leading to use of Firewall / Proxy server

• Using Internet services from all computers in local network via onlyone machine that is connected to the Internet. This machine can be connectedvia a dial up modem or second ethernet interface. This ability welcomemost of the users.
• Another, more serious reason is protection of your local network Ifyou LAN is not directly connected to the Internet, then the only way toaccess Internet is to go via proxy server.
• The last reason can be the need of better using of Internet resources.The data going via proxy server are stored in shared cache. It allows usersto retrieve FTP, Gopher and HTTP data quickly and efficiently, often avoidingthe need to cross the Internet.
