The FREE software downloads below are 'Lite' versions of HelpWriter.
The "lite" versions will create help files up to 30 pages (topics) in length.  Please use them with our compliments.
If you already own a professional version of HelpWriter, you can update your software by installing the "lite" version over your existing copy.

Order HelpWriter via our online web secure storefront, we will email an upgrade code within 2 business days.
This code will upgrade your "Lite" version into the full retail package.

Note: Any version of VB HelpWriter will create help files for both 16 and 32 bit versions of Windows.
The 16 bit version will run on Win 3.1, Win 95 and Win NT.  The 32 bit version requires Win 95 or NT to run.
All versions of HelpWriter below support Visual Basic versions 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Internet Install is the fastest method!

(Internet install version : ~ 100K)
Note: If you have a "Network error 3" when running the internet install, please try again later or download the FULL install files.
After downloading a single 100K file, only the files needed on your particular system will be downloaded.
For users with VB 5.0 (service pack 2) the download should take around 15 minutes.

Note: Since the install script retrieves its files from a specific server, there is no alternate download server available.

This is a traditional installation file for VB HelpWriter/32. You should use the internet install version if possible.
If you are downloading for installation on multiple machines, this is likely your best choice.

This install script does not include the VB 5.0 runtime files. You need to have VB 5.0 with service pack 2.0 or higher to use this script.

VB HelpWriter version 3.1 (16 bit windows)

(Full install script : ~ 1.5 Meg)
This is the 16 bit version of VB HelpWriter. It will run on 16 or 32 bit Windows platforms. It will create help files for any Windows platform.

VBRUN300.DLL runtime file

Download this file if you need the VB 3.0 runtime dll VBRUN300.DLL.
Unzip it into your \windows\system directory to install.

VB 5.0 Runtime files

Download this file if you need the VB 5.0 runtime files.
Run the Msvbvm50.exe program to install

Spell checking dictionary files (Pro version only)

Download one of these files and UNZIP it into your \windows\system directory to enable spell checking in the PRO version of HelpWriter. These files are only necessary if you have upgraded the software using a registration code. They are already installed if you used the setup program on the HelpWriter CDROM
32 bit dictionary files: Download dictionary32.zip and unzip into your \windows\system directory.
16 bit dictionary files: Download hwdic.zip and unzip into your \windows\system directory.

HelpWriter for Delphi/32 bit

(Internet install script: ~ 110K)
Run this internet install to update any version you currently have on your system. Professional versions will be updated and will remain the professional version.

This is the fastest way to download and install.
HelpWriter for Delphi creates help files for any Delphi application.
Works with all versions of Delphi
Runs under  Windows 95 or Windows NT.
Creates help files for any Windows OS.

This is a traditional installation file for  HelpWriter for Delphi 32. It is rather large, at about 5 Meg. You should use the internet install version if possible. If you are downloading for installation on multiple machines, this is likely your best choice.
