A PLASTIC SURGERY PRIMER v 1.5 demonstration edition Welcome to the demonstration of "A Plastic Surgery Primer," a multimedia presentation designed to educate the patient regarding Breast Augmentation, Liposuction, Abdominoplasty and Laser Re-surfacing. This edited program has had most of the actual patient images withheld (nudity cannot be distributed as shareware...children may be exposed). The full version of the program has more descriptive text and images. It can be obtained from the sources named below. This program is simple in design but has multimedia aspects which are dependent upon your system to maximize reproduction. The program runs only in the 32 bit Windows environment (95 or NT) and requires the mouse to allow movement from screen to screen. A 486 processor with 8 megabytes of RAM will be adequate to run the program, but a faster machine will be more pleasant. Color reproduction is optimized for "high color" (32000 colors or greater) to allow photo-realistic representation of the patient images. This is of course more pertinent in the case of the full version of the program, as there are few patient images in this demo. Color rendition can be a bit shaky in 256 color mode. If your computer will allow it, set your color to "high color" for the best graphics. Background music (disabled in this demo) is in the form of Midi files. These require a wavetable synthesis-capable sound card for playback. If Windows reports an error indicating it cannot play the midi file, this indicates either your card is not correctly installed or does not support wavetable synthesis. The demo does have a few events in which .wav files are used for events, so you may hear some sound. Installation To install, just place the disk in your floppy drive and type setup.exe The setup program will install the presentation on your hard drive with an uninstall option should you wish to remove it later. It will also install an icon on the desktop to execute the program. More Information As this presentation only covers the basic aspects of these procedures, you are encouraged to consult the resources indicated at the end of the presentation. The full version of the software can also be obtained from these sources.
