(1) The Ministry of Justice is the central body of the state administration for the courts and the prosecution. (2) The Ministry of Justice issues legal opinions on credit and guarantee agreements to which the Czech Republic is a party. (3) The Ministry of Justice is the central body of the state administration for the prison system; the Prison Service of the Czech Republic is subordinated to it. The Ministry of Justice operates the telecommunication network of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic.

(4) The Ministry of Justice represents the Czech Republic in dealing with complaints of breaches of the Covenant on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the Protocols to it.
