INSTALLING IBM WEBEXPLORER V1.1

This file describes the software requirements to install the
WebExplorer V1.1 World Wide Web browser on your workstation.


Software Requirements
---------------------

 - OS/2 Warp, OS/2 Warp Connect, or OS/2 Warp-J

 - TCP/IP Version 3.0 for OS/2 (included with OS/2 Warp Connect) or
   TCP/IP Version 2.0 for OS/2 (with the latest Corrective Service applied
   and APAR fix PN 71501)

 - The Internet Connection for OS/2 (included with OS/2 Warp and OS/2 Warp
   Connect)

Web Explorer V1.1b (04/25/96):
-----------------------------

This version of Web Explorer contains the following APAR fixes:

- IC12129 : When loading graphical pages with Web Explorer 1.03,
            swapfile grows to astronomical proportions (40Megs or
            more)
- IC12273 : When printing from the Web Explorer V 1.03 to certain
            PostScript printers, some of the document will not
            print
- IC12515 : Web Explorer receives a SYS3175 when accessing the HTML
            code with a <EM> tag in the file
- IC12691 : Web Explorer does not properly load documents with a
            TEXTAREA field
- IC12700 : Web Explorer does not display text on a specific page
- IC12706 : Web Explorer will not format tables for printing correctly
- IC13080 : Web Explorer is not formatting tables with inline
            graphics properly
- IC13084 : Web Explorer abends with SYS3175 when pressing TAB in a
            FORMTEXT field
- PJ19930 : Web Explorer fails with SYS3175 when caching a document
            with a <SELECT></SELECT> pair without any <OPTION> tags
- PJ21228 : Web Explorer does not properly display URL when it
            contains characters X'20' and below in value.
- PJ21263 : Web Explorer 1.03 behaves erratically when rowspan used
            in HTML sources
- PJ21391 : Web Explorer generates a SYS3175 in WEBEXWIN.DLL when
            downloading a MIME type with a long URL name to the
            harddisk
- PJ21464 : Web Explorer doesn't route correctly when using a socks
            server
- PJ21616 : When clicking on an image map in an HTML document to
            reach a new page or server connection, Web Explorer
            does not properly display the new URL for the new
            connection.
- PJ21622 : Wex Explorer V1.03 does not work with Internet Expo
- PJ21914 : Back arrow does not take WebEx V1.03 to the previous page
- PJ21942 : Proxy definition added to proxies Help panel
- PJ22211 : Web Explorer V1.03 produces "String overflow" error when
            trying to reload a form
- PJ21468 : Web Explorer V1.03 ends with a SYS3175 access violation
            in WEBEXWIN.DL
- PJ22468 : Web Explorer crashes when using "Save As..." to save a
            page
- PN83071 : Web Explorer ALT Attribute in HTML file is not displayed
            correctly when load graphics is switched off.
 
 
It also contains the following APAR fixes from previous versions of
WebExplorer:
 
- IC11796 : Web Explorer 1.03 gives SYS3175 with long quicklist entry
- IC11797 : Web Explorer generates access violation when loading an
            HTML page that is larger than 8.9K
- PJ20482 : Web Explorer does not display Help for login dialog
- PJ20483 : Web Explorer does not properly allow scrolling in some
            previously viewed documents
- PJ20484 : Web Explorer does not properly display a page after
            loading it. The page is the default grey background.
- PJ20633 : Web Explorer removes a leading space from any query
            submitted by a text input field
- PJ20899 : Web Explorer gives error "Server is busy or not responding" ERRO
            when posting data greater than 4KB
- PJ21284 : Web Explorer does not display all the default text in a
            <TEXTAREA> field

Besides the above APARs, several other problems in previous versions
of Web Explorer have also been corrected.

After unpacking the ZIP file, you should have the following files:
- explore.bmp
- explore.dsc
- explore.ex_

- install.exe
- install.in_
- read.me
- readme.1st
- service.doc

This version is a total replacement of Web Explorer code. To install:
1- make backup copies of the following existing files (note: depending
   on which version of Web Explorer that you are running, some of the
   files may not exist):

    /bin/explore.exe
    /bin/explore.ico
    /bin/viewstrt.exe
    /dll/webexurl.dll
    /dll/webexwin.dll
    /help/explore.hlp
    /help/webexurl.hlp
    /help/webng.htm

2- change to the directory where the unpacked Web Explorer v1.1b
   files are.

3- type
     install
   and press Enter.

4- follow the on-screen installation instructions.
