Dear ZyXEL customer, Vienna, 12/20/1996 Update of the European MDMZYXON.INF modem definition script file for the ZyXEL omni.net ISDN single ported V.24 terminal adapter -------------------------------------------------------------- This INF file is for both operating systems: Microsoft Windows95 v4.00.950.B Microsoft WindowsNT v4.00.1381 note: there exist several INF files for different ZyXEL modems now: MDMZYXEL.INF .... for the ZyXEL U-1496xx modem series MDMZYXLG.INF .... is the "all-in-one" INF file for Elite & Omni series MDMZYXOI.INF ... is the "stand-alone" INF file for the ZyXEL Omni TA128 ISDN dualported V.24 terminal adapter with firmware version v2.00 only ! MDMZYXON.INF ... is the "stand-alone" INF file for the ZyXEL omni.net ISDN single ported V.24 terminal adapter with firmware version v1.02 only ! Please copy this new "MDMZYXON.INF" (internal rev. 15, 12/20/1996) into your "\WINDOWS\INF\" directory (which is a hidden (!) directory). Check that there does not exist any "OEMn.INF" (n is a digit) files for other ZyXEL modems. You'll have to look into the "OEMn.INF" by opening it with the NOTEPAD.EXE (or any other ASCII editor). If the "OEMn.INF" starts with any version note which reflects to the ZyXEL modems, then please delete this file ! Install your ZyXEL omni.net with firmware v1.02 by using the "modems" wizard in the control panel - the Windows95 registry will be updated automatically then. following modifications and enhancements have been done: -------------------------------------------------------- internal version 15 (12/16/96) + fixed the wrong init counter (HKLM,Init,3,,"ATB40....") into HKLM,Init,2,,"....." for Finland's "Kolumbus 64k and 128k" entries internal version 14 (12/13/96) + first public release of this "stand-alone" INF, for TA128 f/w v2.00 only + added Plug&Play identification for all country codes + added Plug&Play identification for the USA, 1TR6, KT-1B, KT-10A, DSS1, JAPAN and TAIWAN ISDN switches, based on different firmware files and country codes. + special Plug&Play feature in Sweden (for "Telia Internet") and in Finland (for "Kolumbus" Internet Service Provider), dependend on the country codes. + special modem entry for the "ZyXEL Internet Configuration Manager", a Windows-based utility, still in alpha-test, which will be released in the near future. + based on the MDMZYXLG.INF (rev. 53) for Elite & Omni series LOGWIN.EXE and LOGGER.VXD ------------------------- This is a utility (copyrighted by Microsoft) which lets you watch the logfile and trace information of the "MODEMLOG.TXT" (for the AT commands and modem responses) and the "PPPLOG.TXT" (PPP trace information) in a window ONLINE (!), that is WHILE IT HAPPENS ! ------------------------------------ how to install it ? ------------------- + manually copy the "LOGGER.VXD" into the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ directory + manually copy the "LOGWIN.EXE" into the \WINDOWS\ directory how to start it ? ----------------- 1.) you have to enable the logfile feature in the modem's advanced settings. Open the modems wizard applet which you will find under "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Modems", then select any modem entry and click on the "Properties" button and enable the "Record to a logfile" on the "Connection , Advanced" dialog box. In this INF file it is already pre-selected, so normally you don't need this step. If the "LOGWIN" utility is not used, then Windows95 or WindowsNT4 will create a file "MODEMLOG.TXT" in the \WINDOWS\ directory (or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ under WindowsNT4) 2.) if you want to enable the "PPPLOG.TXT" logfile feature, you must enable it in the advanced network settings for the "dial-up adapter": Open the network wizard applet which you will find under "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Network". Then select the "dial-up adapter", click on the "properties" button and choose the "advanced" dialox box. There the value for the "Record a log file" property must be set to "yes" 3.) manually start the "LOGWIN.EXE" before dialing whenever you want to watch or debug the INF files ! Originally this utility is included in the MODEMDEV.EXE ("modem development kit", which is publically available on Microsoft's FTP Internet Server. note: because ZyXEL R&D Dept. Taiwan is developing many new features this MDMZYXON.INF will also be modified again in the future ! Please have a regularily look to our Internet ftp-server where you always will find the most updated version: ftp://ftp.zyxel.co.at/public/software/Windows95/mdmzyxon.zip Any bug reports or suggestions for new modifications are welcome ! electronic greetings from Vienna Manfred Recla ************************************************************ SES Datensysteme, authorized ZyXEL distributor [Austria] ZyXEL European File Distribution - Coordination Center E-Mail: support@zyxel.co.at FTP: ftp://ftp.zyxel.co.at WWW: http://www.zyxel.co.at ************************************************************
