What's new in this version
Overview
StickyNote 6 represents a large departure, in many senses, from the previous versions, although, in others, is a profound recapitulation. SN6 retains its light weight and ease-of-use that the previous versions displayed; in fact, this has been extended by such features as "simple menus" and this very on-line help. But foremost, SN6 is a new vision, sporting a professional new look and some very extensive features including textured backgrounds, and various networking abilities including the new address book and the ping command.
We hope that StickyNote 6 comes closest to the expectations of our customers as reasonably possible. To get a more detailed description of what's new, please read the following section.
New features
- Brand new look. Menu icons, bitmap backgrounds. You'll like the new look and feel.
- Define as many custom colors as you want with the new color database.
- Random color feature- have StickyNote choose the colors of your notes from your color database.
- Style types- set your notes' backgrounds to burlap, construction paper, give them a textured, 3D look. You can even change the border style.
- Note roll-up feature- "minimize" your notes on the desktop to conserve screen real-estate
- Simple menu option for conventional users.
- Note encryption- runs seamlessly, in the background; ensures that hackers can't read the note in transit.
- Profile information- see who sent notes to you over the network
- Address book- for your network buddies.
- Ping command- see who's using a machine, how long it has been idle, how many notes it's displaying. Read your friends' profile messages.
- New network protocols, including IPX and NetBIOS. Now StickyNote should work on your LAN, even if it's not TCP/IP.
- Reply-to-author function for quick communcation
- Password feature- password protect your notes such that they cannot be shown unless the password is entered correctly
- Text-to-new-note function. Spawn your notes from text.
- Scrollbar disappears when text fits in the note.
- Use-as-default for notes- duplicate your favorite note's properties automatically with this feature
- Incremental save capability for unstable machines
- New tray icon notifies you when you've received hidden notes.
The above is just a small sampling of what StickyNote 6 has to offer. Many technical improvements have also been added to make StickyNote 6.0 the most stable, robust version of the program yet.
