Browser Click Monitoring
-
To enable browser click monitoring, check the
Input / Monitor Browser Clicks option in the main menu
(on Windows NT systems you need to have Administrator privileges
to toggle this option).
Hold the Alt key down when clicking on the link in your browser
to send the URL to Net Vampire. If Net Vampire is not running, it will
be started automatically. A mouseclick without the Alt key will open
the link in the browser, as usual. Browser click monitoring works
with Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher and with all versions of Netscape.
-
Clipboard Monitoring
-
To enable clipboard monitoring, check the Input / Monitor Clipboard
option in the Main Menu. Whenever you copy a shortcut in the browser,
a valid URL in the text editor or an Internet shortcut in the file
explorer, the Net Vampire Add Job dialog will open with the Location
field pre-filled.
-
HTML Clipboard Format
-
Works with Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher.
Select a fragment of web page with your mouse in the browser window,
then drag it to the Drop Basket.
All links embedded in the fragment will be added to the Job List.
This also works with Clipboard Monitoring.
-
Drop Basket
-
The Net Vampire Drop Basket accepts drag and drop in many different
formats. You can drop links from the browser, including graphic links,
Netscape bookmark entries, Internet Shortcuts from the Desktop
or folders (now multiple shortcuts can be dropped in one operation),
a list of URLs from the text editor (each URL should be on a separate
line). To make the Drop Basket visible, check the
Input / Drop Basket / Floating option in the Main Menu.
-
Command line parameters
-
A URL and optionally a local file name, if specified as
command line parameters when Net Vampire is started, will add a new
Job to the Job List. Only one instance of Net Vampire can run
at any given time. If you start VAMPIRE.EXE with command line parameters
when the program is running, it will just add the URL to the list.
-
Clipboard Paste
-
If clipboard monitoring is disabled, you can manually paste URLs from
the Clipboard to the Job List.
Click the Paste URLs speedbutton, or select Jobs / Paste Links
in the Main Menu, or press Ctrl-V in the Job List.
-
Add Job dialog
-
allows you to type the URL manually. You can start the new Job immediately,
schedule it to start at certain time or add it to the Job List without starting.
Click the Job Settings, Site Settings or Locations button
to change the settings or add alternate downloading locations.
-
Importing partially received files
-
If you have a file partially received with another program,
you can easily import it to Net Vampire to complete downloading.
Select Jobs / Import Partial File in the Main Menu, select the file
in the Open dialog and click OK. When the Add Job dialog opens,
type the URL in the Location field.
-
Third-Party Programs
-
can add Jobs to Net Vampire using:
- OLE Automation interface
- DDE interface
- WM_COPYDATA Windows message
- command-line parameters
The Job configuration file can be created and copied to the Net Vampire
Jobs directory, this will immediately add the Job to the Job List.
