To start go to options, add a news server, retrieve groups and select the newsgroups you want to scan. Set the output directories and click ok. Then click scan and hold on! (Scanning may take some time the first time!) You can add multiple news servers! They will all be scanned and combined, this can be very handy when large multiparts are spreaded over several servers. You can stop any thread by clicking on the red cross button next to it (all other processing will continue). You can use filters when scanning the news groups! For example only avi or mpg files. Go to Options -> filters. To see all the incomplete parts go to Options -> Advanced and select 'Show incomplete parts'. If you want the files to be saved with their subject as name instead of the real filename go to Options -> Advanced and select 'Use subject as filename'. You can set sorting to case insensitive by going to Options -> Advanced and select 'Sort case insensitive'. You can move files to the top of the queue when grabbing by right clicking on them and select 'Move to top in pending tasks'. You can remove a queued file by right clicking it and selecting 'Remove from tasks'. You can find text by clicking 'Find', using the menu or pressing Ctrl+F. Double clicking a file will grab it when it is a multipart or open it when it is plain text. Use the Auto feature to scan and grab all files from all newsgroups. You can use the Auto newsgroups directory feature in advanced options to set a base directory for all newsgroups. You can reset a newsgroup (remove all articles) by right clicking the group and select 'Reset group'. You can remove a newsgroup from the main window by selecting it and pressing the DEL key. You can browse the download directory by clicking 'Browse', from the menu, by right clicking the groups list and select 'Browse' or by pressing Ctrl+B. You can set your default e-mail address for posting messages by going to Options -> User Information. You can add a newsgroup manually in options so you don't have to retrieve all the newsgroups. Make sure you know this group exists on the server! Once you have retrieved the newsgroups once NewsReactor will keep them in a file that you can use to get them very fast by clicking 'Local File' at the 'Groups' tab in Options. Don't forget to read the readme with the latest bugfixes and improvements. NewsReactor will check wether you have the latest version automatically! You can post messages and replies with NewsReactor! You can enable or disable the use of a thread by selecting the checkbox next to the threads. You can adjust the maximum download speed in Kilobyte/Seconds, so you can continue doing other online things. Scanning the a newsgroup the first time may take a while! Please be patient. NewsReactor will recombine the old and new retrieved articles, so you will get all possible complete ones. NewsReactor decodes UUencoded, Base64 and yEnc encoded files. It will even try to fix inconsistencies. When a decoding error occurs, the file will remain in the output directory with it's name 'attach#.uue'. You can try fixing it by hand.
