SharpDevelop

0.99

Introduction/News

I don't really know how many people are using SharpDevelop but we get a lot of feedback in our forums and by mail. I would like to thank all users which helped to make the .99 release even better. I would like to get more user feedback on questions like:

I would like to have some more people working on #D because the project has grown much. We have lost some contributors lately and the developer mailing list is relatively silent. (This doesn't mean that #D evolves slower in the future. In fact I've written the most code and lately #D did make some huge leaps forward without contributor help (expect for Andrea Paatz which helped a lot with the parser and Markus Palme. His ongoing effort in the VB.NET area and Assembly Scout and lately the regular expression workbench helped the project much).

Because we don't have many developers means that there is little support for features the core team doesn't use. Like the file scout, template completion or some other minor issues and some big issues like the Java backend binding. We can need a gcc backend binding too (a sample is provided). #D should be able to produce C/C++ executables using gcc. Maybe you want to integrate Haskell, Fortran, Cobol, ...? (Every additional language would be cool.)

We are in need of:

Note that code contributors must sign a copyright assignment (the same as with OpenOffice.org) to prevent legal troubles.

Never forget: Open Source lives through the feedback of its users ...
