Registry Key Ownership

 

Note: this functionality is only available when running on Windows XP/2000NT.

Resplendent Registrar supports the security features of Windows XP, 2000 and NT allowing you to view and take ownership of a registry key. 

Taking ownership of a registry key is not a common operation. It is typically an operation that an administrator would use as a last resort to gain access to a registry key

To display the current owner of a registry key,   select it and choose Properties from the Main Menu. The current registered owner of the registry key is displayed in the Owner field. To take ownership, press the Take Owership button.

You will find specific information for your operating system on taking registry key ownership. Note that registry key ownership changes can only be undone by restoring from a registry backup and not with the undo tool.
