SETUP WIZARD
In the DirectSound streaming buffer section you'll see a slider that sets the audio buffer length. Bigger buffer means more stable performance (without underruns). Longer buffer, however, means also that there will be lagged response while playing notes, tweaking wheels and pushing sliders (this does NOT affect already recorded events). The lag length is equal to the buffer length. The optimal buffer size depends much on your CPU speed and type of sound card you have. It's recommended that now you leave the default settings and when you try some of the demo songs included in the installation try to find the best setting (buffer as small as possible without any underruns). Note that the best buffer size may vary from project to project, depending on the CPU usage of the song.
For more information on the rest of the settings in that section go to the Audio Settings page.
