Resolving "There was a problem with your Windows Security Settings" Error Message
Symptoms
When you attempt to open a Money data file, you may receive the following error message:

Cause
This behavior can occur if the Windows system cryptography provider is not properly registered in the Windows registry. If this occurs, programs that rely on encryption may fail to operate properly. Since Money encrypts file data, this scenario can temporarily prevent Money from properly accessing your data file.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, you need to re-register the Windows Cryptography driver in the Windows registry.
To re-register the Windows Cryptography driver, follow these steps:

  1. Quit Money if it is running.

  2. On the Start menu, point to Find and then click Files Or Folders.

  3. In the Named box, type the following and click Find Now:

  4. Make a note of the path to this file. For Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000, this will normally be in the C:\Winnt\System32 folder if you chose the default installation location. For Windows 95 and Windows 98, this will normally be in the C:\Windows\System folder.

  5. On the Start menu, click Run.

  6. Type the following in the Open box.

where ["path"] is the path you noted in step 4.

  7. Start Money.

If this does not resolve the problem, and Windows reported that the registration of rsabase.dll was successful, contact Microsoft Product Support Services.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have any problems registering rsabase.dll, you need to contact your designated Windows support provider. Refer to the Windows Help menu, and query on the word "support".
