Find out
about getting an Internet Service Provider (ISP)
To get online, you need to sign up with an
Internet Service Provider (ISP)
. There are a couple of things to consider when looking
for an ISP:
- Cost Some ISPs charge based on the amount of time you spend
connected to the Internet, although most charge you a flat monthly fee.
- How you connect Some ISPs dial automatically when you do
anything that requires an Internet connection (like start your browser or click a Web link
in Money). Others, however, require that you make the connection before you can start
exploring the Web. The ISP you choose will give you specific directions about how to
connect to the Internet.
- What connection speeds are supported You can now get
high-speed connections to the Internet from cable and telephone companies.
If you want more than a standard dial-up connection through a modem, make
sure your ISP supports these speeds.
MSN Internet Access is one ISP you might choose for
providing your Internet connection. Click here to get details about Internet access from MSN if you have your Money CD or call 1-800 FREE-MSN to learn more.
