6.- What does it mean when the antivirus has renamed the infected files?

Panda Antivirus Titanium carries out its scans applying advanced techniques, known as heuristic techniques. This means that, as well as detecting existing viruses, the antivirus can also detect other anomalies in the files that it scans. These anomalies could imply that a recently created virus is present (which cannot yet be detected or disinfected).

By default, your Panda Antivirus Titanium is able to neutralize these kinds of files. In order to do this, provided that you want it to, it will change the name of these files (rename).

In order to find out if the antivirus has this option enabled, or to change it, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Configuration menu.
  2. There, select the option Configure the scans.
  3. A checkbox will be displayed Automatically rename the suspicious files.
  4. If it is not checked, click on it in order to enable this function.
