Programs and paths preferences

Here you can explicitly set the location of folders used by Opera, and to configure external programs that Opera uses for various purposes.

Opera clients

Show e-mail client Hides the built-in e-mail client in Opera if unchecked
Show instant messaging client Hides the built-in instant messenger in Opera if unchecked
Show news client Hides the built-in news client in Opera if unchecked

Paths

Opera directory This is the location of Opera's files. Don't change this unless you know what you are doing.
Download directory If you choose "Open" when downloading a file, the file is put in this folder, as opposed to "Save", where you specify the folder each time

Programs

Source viewer Choose your favorite text editor to view the source of Web pages. You can view the source of a Web page from the View menu.
Telnet program Telnet is used to communicate with other computers through a command-line interface. Relevant for advanced users only.
TN3270 program TN3270 communicates with IBM mainframes. Relevant for advanced users only (see IETF RFC 1576 for details).
