Let's be honest here, most presentation software is extremely dull, used only by corporate types to display bulleted lists or Excel charts at the next sales meeting. But it doesn't have to be that way. Medi@Show creates multimedia presentations so quickly and easily that you're sure to find a host of uses for it. Even if you don't have to give a monthly report on widget sales in the North-East.

How about creating an automated slideshow of your favourite digital photos, for instance? Start Medi@Show, work your way through the wizard and pick the photos you'd like to use. (Medi@Show also imports videos and PowerPoint presentations).

By default the presentation will play automatically, but if you'll be around then choose Manual Playback instead. You can then talk about each shot, clicking the mouse when you're ready to move on.

After optionally picking some background music for a soundtrack, the basic slideshow is complete. Click Play (bottom-left button with the movie camera icon) to see how it looks, and press Escape to finish.

Medi@Show also includes a number of powerful Edit functions. Use these and you can access transition, text, audio and masking effects, adding all the fancy wipes, captions and borders you need.

When you're finished, move the mouse cursor over to the left-hand side of the screen to access the main control panel. Choose the Export icon to save your presentation as a web page, perhaps, ready to display your masterpiece online. Alternatively choose the stand-alone executable or screen saver option, and Medi@Show produces a single file that anyone can use to view your pictures.

Medi@Show 2 proved so popular with digital photographers that CyberLink have now added an image editor, so you can tweak brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness, crop or resize images without requiring another app. You also get enhancement features like automatic red-eye removal, an improved user interface, and the ability to burn your slideshows directly to CD or DVD.

Upgrading to Medi@Show 3 costs around £23.27. Follow the link in your registration email to order.
