 It's 16 years since PagePlus first revolutionised the desktop publishing world, with its combination of low price, powerful feature set and general ease of use. Constant development ever since means it's still one of Serif's flagship products, and version 8.0 is packed with reasons why it should be your DTP application of choice.
This starts with the design wizards, for instance. Choose a project type, like "business cards", "calendars", "greetings cards", "newsletters", even "web sites", and you'll be presented with a range of pre-designed templates. Personalise the document by typing in the appropriate details, like the sender and recipients name for a birthday card, then choose a colour scheme and you're done.
Of course you can also customise these designs completely, or create your own documents from scratch, and there are plenty of useful tools available to help. Image enhancement tools (including a redeye remover) and a photo optimiser get the most colourful, vivid results from your images, for example. Powerful drawing options, transparency effects and gradient fills let you add some eye-catching style to your documents, while versatile text layout, composition and flow tools give your words the maximum impact.
Perhaps the best part of PagePlus 8, though, is the way it's now so much easier to work with multi-page documents. This includes multi-page templates (define different styles for different sections of the document) and a multi-page view (work with many pages in view at the same time). Then use the Studio Page Manager to add, copy and delete pages, or drag and drop pages within your document to rearrange their sequence, and you've got an ideal tool for working with the most complex of publishing projects.
